
8th Matriculation Ceremony
PAMO University of Medical Sciences held its 8th Matriculation Ceremony with great enthusiasm and a strong reaffirmation of its commitment to academic excellence and moral integrity. The event was officially declared open by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Smith I. Jaja, who delivered a warm and inspiring address to the gathering.
In his speech, Prof. Jaja extended a heartfelt welcome to all dignitaries, parents, guardians, and the newly admitted students, recognizing their presence as a testament to the university’s growing reputation and impact. He commended the efforts of all stakeholders in making the occasion a success.
A significant portion of his address was dedicated to expressing appreciation to the Government of Rivers State for its continued support of education, particularly through the sustained Rivers Indigene Scholarship Program. Prof. Jaja acknowledged that the scholarship initiative has played a pivotal role in supporting students and enhancing access to quality education for Rivers indigenes.
Speaking directly to the newly matriculated students, the Acting Vice-Chancellor urged them to seize the opportunity presented to them, emphasizing the importance of hard work, discipline, and academic focus. He reminded the students that PAMO University maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards cultism and all forms of social vices, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to providing a safe and disciplined learning environment.
Prof. Jaja also used the occasion to appreciate His Excellency, Sir Dr. Peter Odili, the visionary founder of PAMO University. He praised Dr. Odili for his foresight in establishing the institution and for his unwavering dedication to ensuring it remains a center of excellence in medical education.
In his remarks, the Pro-Chancellor and Founder, His Excellency, Sir Dr. Peter Odili, expressed appreciation to the Acting Vice-Chancellor for what he described as a well-delivered and impactful address. He also commended the management and staff of the university for their continued hard work and dedication in building and nurturing the institution to its current standard.
Dr. Odili echoed the Vice-Chancellor’s sentiments on discipline, stressing the need for both staff and students to maintain proper conduct and uphold the university’s core values. He reaffirmed the university’s zero-tolerance stance on cultism and social vices, urging all members of the university community to remain committed to the ideals of excellence, integrity, and responsibility.
The matriculation ceremony marked not only the formal admission of new students into the university community but also reaffirmed PAMO University’s mission to produce competent, ethical, and service-driven professionals in the medical and allied sciences.
