APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION INTO FULL-TIME POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION
The aim of the School of Postgraduate Studies at PUMS is to further develop the spirit of enquiry in the graduate students, through training in research, in an atmosphere of intellectual independence and individual creativity, combined with a strong sense of team work.
In pursuit of the above aim:
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for full-time admissions into the postgraduate programmes of PAMO University of Medical Sciences (PUMS), Port Harcourt, for the 2026/2027 academic session, leading to the award of Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in the following Departments:

Application Requirements and Procedure
1. Admission Requirements
1.1 Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
The Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programme is offered only in the following departments:- Medical Laboratory Science
- Nursing Science
- Radiography and Radiation Sciences
1.1.1 General Requirements
- Candidates must possess a minimum of five (5) O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, obtained at not more than two sittings.
1.1.2 PGD in Medical Laboratory Science
- Candidates from approved universities who hold a BMLS degree with at least a Third Class grade.
- Candidates must be registered with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
1.1.3 PGD in Radiography and Radiation Sciences
- Candidates from approved universities with at least a Third Class degree in Radiography, Radiography and Radiological Sciences, or Radiography and Radiation Sciences.
- Holders of professional qualifications such as Diploma of the College of Radiographers of London (DCR London), R.T (ARRT) USA, CAMRT (Canada), and D.I.R. (Nigeria) are also eligible to apply.
1.1.4 PGD in Nursing Science
- Candidates from approved universities with a BNSc or BSc Nursing degree and at least a Third Class grade.
- Candidates with a minimum of Upper Credit in Higher National Diploma (HND) in Nursing Science from recognized Colleges or Schools of Nursing are eligible to apply.
- Candidates must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and possess a current Nigerian practising licence.
- Candidates with degrees in Biological Science disciplines such as:
- Nutrition and Dietetics
- Microbiology
- Biochemistry
- Health Education
- Anatomy
- Physiology
- Clinical Psychology
1.2 Master’s Degree (MSc)
The following candidates may apply for admission into the Master’s degree programmes:- Candidates from approved universities who obtained Bachelor’s degrees in relevant disciplines acceptable to the respective departments with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division.
- Candidates with unclassified degrees acceptable to the departments must have obtained a minimum overall grade of C (50%).
- Holders of a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in the proposed field of study from recognized institutions with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a 5-point scale.
- Candidates who possess the Fellowship of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (FMLSCN) in the relevant specialty area may apply for admission into Medical Laboratory Science.
1.3 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
The following candidates may apply for admission into the PhD programmes:- Candidates from approved universities who obtained a Master’s degree in the proposed field of study with a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale.

3. Method of Application
Applications should be completed online through the Postgraduate Admissions Portal:Application Steps
- Complete the online application form by filling in all required information and click “Submit My Application.”
- A confirmation email will be sent to your registered email address. Please ensure you provide a valid personal email address.
- Open the email and click the activation link to validate your account.Important: Copy and keep your Application Number safely. It will serve as your unique identification throughout the application process.
- After activation, log in using your Application Number and registered email address.
- Review your information, pay the application fee of Twenty Thousand Naira N20,000, and upload evidence of payment.
- Complete the remaining sections of the application by following the step-by-step process.
- After final submission:
- Print your completed Application Form.
- Print the Transcript Request Form.
- Forward the Transcript Request Form to your previous institution for the release of your academic transcript.
- If you have changed your name, ensure it is clearly indicated on the Transcript Request Form.

Important Information for Applicants

- Master’s Degree Applicants must upload a synopsis of their previous degree research (maximum of one typed page) containing:

- PhD Applicants must upload a research proposal (maximum of five typed pages) containing:
