500 LEVEL NURSING STUDENTS MADE 100% PASS IN THEIR GENERAL NURSING AND MIDWIFERY QUALIFYING EXAMINATIONS

The Department of Nursing Science of PAMO University of Medical Sciences (PUMS), Port Harcourt Nigeria was started in 2017/2018 academic session for a five-year programme.
The Department in its period of existence has gained full accreditation from:
- National Universities Commission (NUC)
- Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN)
- West African Health Examination Board (WAHEB)
The Department has been on pedestrian of success from inception The Department being operational in a conducive environment is geared towards preparing polyvalent Nurses in line with the global best practices.
The first set of students 2017/2018 (500 level students) sat for Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria final qualifying examination for General Nursing in November 2021 and had 100 % pass.
They also sat for Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria qualifying Examination for Midwifery in March 2022 and again made 100% passes.
They are currently preparing to sit for Public Health Nursing Examination in July 2022 and we are hopeful that they will also make a 100% pass too. The 2018/2019 (400 level) set of students sat for Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria final qualifying examination for General Nursing in May 2022 and had 95.24% pass. They are currently being prepared for final qualifying examination for Midwifery against March, 2023.
PUMS will graduate her first set of Nursing Students by October 2022 and these same students will be inducted into the Nursing Profession by NMCN in October, 2022 after which they proceed for their internship.
The Department of Nursing Science, PAMO University of Medical Sciences is making its waves in Nigeria and beyond as she has set a record for others to emulate by graduating her students at record time.
The staff of the Department is academically visible. They are also being appointed for official assignments by the West African Health Examination Board (WAHEB), Nursing and
Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and National Universities Commission (NUC), which are a mark of trust and confidence in the ability of the staff and management of PAMO University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.
